Nov 21 2005 - Tom and Ken's new album Maxwell/Mosher is available for order. I was fortunate enough to receive a preview copy and loved it! For the curious, it's reminiscent of the classic SNZ sound. There are music samples on the page, so go see for yourselves! (And thank you, Ken, for the preview!)
Letter from Ken Mosher, Oct 2005
Hey Everyone,
Ken Mosher writing... I'm not trying to be impersonal here, as most of you know me, but I'm writing (spamming) you all together as you all have Squirrel Nut Zippers related sites. To those of you who don't know, I was a founder of the Zippers, and maintained the band's official website until my departure in 1999.
I'm writing to ask that you link up a couple of things on all of your sites.
First is a link to Brother Seeker, a band comprised of Tom Maxwell and myself. We have a rocking album that we put out this summer, which doesn't sound a lot like the Zips. It has gotten a couple of nice reviews though, and Tom and I sure like it! I'd love it if we could get a mention and link from your sites. Brother Seeker will continue to release our "non Zippers" music.
The site is http://www.brotherseeker.com
Now for the Squirrel Nut Zippers related info. First, sad news: Al Casey (from Fats Waller's band and from Pallin' With Al) passed away in September of this year. He was Fats Waller's last surviving band mate, so have a drink for Al. (he liked vodka)
Secondly, Tom and I are about to release an album that is very much like Squirrel Nut Zippers. It will be called Maxwell/Mosher, and there are some video preview samples on the site if you hit the Publishing Video link in the upper left. We are doing soundtracks now, and have just finished two very different films, and some of the very Zipperesque music from the films will be released in the next month. I'd love it if you mentioned that, too.
I hope all of you are well, and thanks for helping!
Ken Mosher
PS, If any of you don't have a link to Tom Maxwell's site, please add it, too. http://www.tommaxwell.com
